The North Somerset Business Show 2012 will be officially opened by Cllr Terry Porter, who will be the North Somerset Council Chairman at the time of the event.

To be held at Weston’s iconic Winter Gardens on May 23rd 2012, scores of business will be exhibiting their products and services at the show, with seminars, guest speakers, networking sessions and advice clinics also lined up.

Cllr Porter is delighted to be opening this year’s event and comments: “I will always look to support local business in any way I can. The North Somerset Business Show is a fantastic opportunity for businesses in the area to get together and boost the local economy. It’s still a challenging economic environment so it’s vital that businesses in the area meet influential local partners and build trade relationships at events like the North Somerset Business Show.”

Michael Dunn, BT’s South West Regional Manager has also agreed to run a seminar on the future of Broadband in North Somerset, and more high-profile guest speakers are being lined up according to organisers.

Ian Williams, Events Director for C4 Events, who are organising the show comments: “We’re delighted that Cllr Porter has agreed to open the show and equally delighted that Michael Dunn will be giving us an insight into the future of Broadband in North Somerset, the timetable for its rollout across the district and the positive effect broadband will have on businesses in our region. In the coming weeks we will also be revealing the names of more guest speakers as the show continues to take shape.”

Debbie Fortune Estate Agents, Poppy’s Communications and ASG Creative, North Somerset’s largest marketing agency, are just some of the names already signed up to exhibit.

An exhibitor at the 2011 show, the Weston-super-Mare based portable appliance testing company will be joining the likes of Lloyds TSB and Debbie Fortune Estate Agents at Weston’s iconic Winter Gardens on Wednesday May 23.

Nigel Ford, Proprietor of Cost Control Services explains why he has booked an exhibition space: ”I want to meet proactive and like-minded influential businesses in North Somerset. I feel it’s important not to miss out on business opportunities on the doorstep and the North Somerset Business Show is one of the few platforms that allows me to meet potential customers face-to-face and build lasting business relationships.

“Ultimately the event is a no brainer for me because off the back of last year’s event, I established new contacts and expect to do the same this year. I’m also looking forward to the free business growth seminars, one-to-one expert advice clinics and sharing business ideas; all of which is vital in this difficult economic climate.”

Ian Williams of C4 Events, who are the organisers behind the show, comments: “It’s still relatively early days but we’re experiencing significant interest and the show is shaping up to be a real hit. Debbie Fortune wins free space at North Somerset Business Show.

DFEA staff shot Edit Debbie Fortune wins free space at North Somerset Business Show. Debbie Fortune Estate Agents, based in Wrington, has won a free space at the North Somerset Business Show.

The company won the free exhibitor space at the next North Somerset Business Show by completing an on-line survey which asked respondents where in the region the business event should take place and, out of almost 100 respondents, Debbie Fortune were drawn out of the hat.

Principal Director of the firm Debbie Fortune said:“We could not be more pleased to attend this excellent event- particularly as prize winners. We are looking forward to meeting like-minded and proactive businesses in North Somerset and making lots of new friends and business contacts.”

A spokesperson for North Somerset Business show said:”We are delighted that a local company, that is still relatively new to North Somerset, has been given the opportunity to meet other, like-minded businesses.

“The event hosted 55 exhibitors in 2011 but, given the amount of interest already shown, we hope to double that number in 2012.

“The idea behind the survey was to ensure that we are catering for the needs of the North Somerset business community, and the results were interesting.

“The largest vote went to Weston-super-Mare and so that’s where we will be holding the event again in 2012. We had thought that Portishead would be second but, in fact, it was Clevedon and so we have committed to running the show there in 2013.”

The draw for the free exhibition space was made at the North Somerset Enterprise Agency. Area Manager Terry Gilbert said:”We are very pleased that the North Somerset Business Show 2012, and its location has been confirmed. It was a great success last year and is expected to double in size.

“It is very important for North Somerset businesses, both big and small, to showcase their products and meet new clients in this manner.

“We would also like to acknowledge the fact that the organisers have offered exhibition space to North Somerset Businesses at a very reduced rate.”

The event has been booked to take place on Wednesday 23rd May 2012 at The Winter Gardens, Weston-super-Mare.

Visitors to the show can get free entry by pre-registering on the web site: www.ns-bs.co.uk, where all the details for exhibitors can also be found.

The Weston Echo were amongst a host of top businesses and high-profile community figures at the annual Sian Lloyd Jones Business Awards and Charity Ball on Saturday October 8th 2011, which saw previous winners Insight Data walk away with another award.

The event, organised by the North Somerset Enterprise Agency, was held at the prestigious Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare and is an accolade that recognises exceptional businesses committed to growth, job creation, training and development in North Somerset.

The three big winners on the night were Lambtrad Ltd, Debbie Fortune estate agents and Insight Data Ltd.

The top trophy went to Tim Lamb of Lambtrad Ltd, who in June 2008 took over the franchise of McDonald’s restaurants in Weston Town Centre, Queensway Worle and Portishead. He was commended by the Enterprise Agency for refurbishing all three of his restaurants and injecting fresh enthusiasm and expertise into the business.

Tim Lamb comments: “On behalf of our team of nearly 200 staff members, I am delighted to receive this prestigious recognition. In what has been a tough and challenging trading environment over the last few years, we are more than happy with the success, trajectory and growth of our business.”

Debbie Fortune is a multi-award winning estate agency that was recognised for evolving to an employer of ten staff, including two apprentices from Weston College, since they began trading two years ago.

Insight Data, outright winners in 2009, and the only company to have won twice, is a specialist database company. They were proud winners on the night due to their relentless commitment to innovation and investment, with annual sales growth of 40% per annum and the creation of 20 new jobs in the last three years.

Along with celebrating the cream of business in North Somerset, the event doubled up as a charity ball and auction, with donations made by a number of high profile people and businesses including John Penrose MP, Virgin Active (which recently acquired the Esporta chain of Health Clubs) and ASG Marketing, who kindly donated a new website package.
